Cookie Monster is inspired by The Ghost of Christie Mansion.
Toronto baker William Mellis Christie created a cookie empire in Toronto in the 1800s. But stories say Mr. Christie had a dark side - keeping his mistress isolated and imprisoned in a secret room of his downtown mansion. Unable to continue with a life of solitude, the mistress hung herself in "room 29" and was secreted out late at night to be buried across the street in Queens Park. She is said to haunt Christie Mansion to this day.
These are just stories, but if they're true? Then this cookie maker was truly a Cookie Monster.
